Export of Near-publication Ready Figures

The best toolbox/GUI is worth much less if you cannot export the figures you created with it to show it to others.

A very obvious point, and nevertheless something that took quite some time to make it into the toolbox: Often a user uses a toolbox for a “quick and dirty” first analysis of data, and she or he then wants to save a figure just to show it to somebody else or to have it for the records.

Therefore, a decent figure export function is very important.

The term “publication-ready” is of course debatable. But at least, exporting vector graphics rather than bitmap images whereever possible is a good step towards postprocessing figures in your program of choice.

Again, it is important to have the right balance between useful default settings and a maximum of control over the appearance of the figures. Ideally, all these default settings can be configured using the respective configuration files.
